This Is Love: Actor Jeremy Pope Pays Beautiful Tribute To His Father During His GLAAD Media Awards Honor

Jeremy Pope is a Tony nominated actor who made his big break on Broadway in 2019, playing in Choir Boy and Ain't Too Proud. Pope is one of six people in Tony award history to be nominated in two categories for different roles during the same year. The actor has also starred in the FX series Pose.

The 30-year-old was recently honored at the 34th GLAAD Media Awards with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, an award given to LGBTQ individuals who are exuding excellence in the entertainment industry. This year's award was presented by Gabrielle Union-Wade who Pope co-starred in the new movie The Inspection with.

While delivering his acceptance speech, he chose to honor his special guest who was none other than someone near and dear to his heart, his father. “One of my heroes is here tonight.” Pope said as the camera panned to his father in the audience, “My dad Ty Pope is here tonight. He is a professional bodybuilder. And a pastor when I was growing up. And didn’t disown me when I told him I wanted to be in Destiny’s Child.” He continued to say, “I’m so grateful for our relationship and your dedication to being the best father you could be.”

By the end of this speech we were in shambles. What a beautiful honor for Jeremy and his father! Congratulations Jeremy, keep being the change we need in this world.
