This 87-Year-Old Was 'The Flower Girl' At Her Granddaughter's Wedding Following A Stroke

She was the perfect addition to their wedding!

When Laurena Zeller’s now-husband, Luke, proposed to her, she knew she had to involve her grandma, Joyce Wiggins, in the ceremony.

“I knew she was going to be a part of my special day, but there was no one else in the world that I would want to usher me to my husband than her,” Zeller said.

In March of 2021, the new bride surprised her grandma with a bouquet and asked her to be her flower girl. The 87-year-old quickly said yes and joked, “I gotta go to the gym.”

The couples special day was held on June 27th at the Bartram’s Garden in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, Grandma Joyce suffered a stroke two weeks before the ceremony, but with the help of doctors and sheer determination of spirit, she came home a day before the ceremony.

The happy couple said they were thrilled that she was able to be there.

“When I think of wife, I think of her,” Zeller said.

These are the memories that last a lifetime.
