Shaq Steps Up to Help Single Mom Whose 13-Year-Old Son Wears a Size 18 Shoe

It’s pretty safe to say the “S” in Shaquille O’Neal’s name stands for Superman. Last week after a single mom Brittany Keith took to social media to ask for help with her 13-year-old son, Zach, and his growing feet, word got to Shaq and he showed up to save the day.

“It’s hard finding shoes and cleats in his size let alone being able to afford them at times. He’s almost in a size 19 and I need help. If you can do anything to help I will be so appreciative,” the post said.

The team over at Atlanta’s CBS 46 made Shaq aware of the teen whose size and growth mirrored his own at that age. The family met the basketball hall of famer at Atlanta’s Friedman’s Shoes. Shaq credits the owner Bruce Teilhaber with saving his feet back in 1989 when he gave him a free pair of shoes.

Shaq paid it forward for Zach in the same way.

“You pick out whatever you want, you and your mom don’t have to worry about price.”

Not only did Zach walk away with 10 new pairs of shoes, but the future hall of famer also gave him his contact information to stay in touch and some advice to help him stay focused.

“I know there’s a lot of trials and tribulations but that’s going to make you stronger. All you have to do is work hard, stay out of trouble and you can write your own ticket.”

The help came just in time. Keith took to Instagram to update her followers with a photo of Zach going on his 8th grade dance sporting a new pair of shoes courtesy of Shaq and Friedmans.
