Remembering Trayvon Martin on His Birthday

Remembering Trayvon Martin on His Birthday

Trayvon Martin, who wanted to attend the University of Miami or Florida A&M University, had big dreams. Those dreams included one day flying the skies as a pilot or pursuing a career as an aviation mechanic. However, his life was tragically cut short at the age of 17 when he was wrongfully targeted and killed by a self-proclaimed neighborhood watchman in 2012.

His dream of flying was honored in 2017 by his mother Sybrina Fulton's alma mater of Florida Memorial University, who awarded Trayvon with a posthumous Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation. To this day, people across the nation continue to honor and remember Trayvon and how he sparked a movement - especially on his birthday of February 5.

Rest in power, Trayvon. We will continue to walk in your light and honor your life!
