You probably grabbed a tissue (or two) when President Obama expressed his thanks to Michelle Obama and their daughters in his farewell speech on Tuesday. Well, get ready to grab another. On The Tonight Show last night, guests were under the impression that they were "recording" goodbye messages for the First Lady, but little did they know, Mrs. Obama was behind the curtain listening to them read their thank you messages to an official portrait of her. Their heartfelt words remind us just how great of an impact the First Lady has had on us all.
The first guest said: "Because of you, I know that my race does not define who I am or what I can accomplish. For years you have shown our nation countless times that through dignity, compassion and respect, we can overcome any hardship."
Mrs. Obama was also in for surprise when her old college classmate from Princeton showed up to thank her for being a role model for girls everywhere.
If you could send a thank you message to First Lady Obama, what would you say?
