She's a mom now!

Abby Phillip has continuously wowed viewers with her poise, intelligence, and the glow of Black excellence that she seems to emanate flawlessly. Her fans were delighted when she announced she was expecting back in March. Today she informed the world that she and her husband welcomed their first daughter, Naomi Angelina Richardson, on Monday. In an Instagram post, the 32-year-old wrote, "Marcus and I are so happy to announce that the Naomi Angelina Richardson arrived bright and early on Monday morning perfectly happy, healthy, and ready to eat. Mom and baby are feeling great."

Baby Naomi showed up "10 days fashionably late" and weighing 7 lbs., 6 oz., and measuring 20.5 inches.

In a statement to People Magazine she said, Her first name means 'pleasant one,' and she is already living up to it and spoiling her mom and dad as a blissfully calm baby. Her middle name Angelina is a tribute to my beloved maternal grandmother who passed away in 2014."

Phillip was lauded for her coverage of the previous administration and election night results. Then, in January, we reported that she'd been named senior political correspondent and the anchor for Inside Politics Sunday. Now she's taking on her most important role yet, mom. A few months ago, she expressed what being a mother meant to her in an Instagram post.

"Being a mother is so much more than sleepless nights and endless diaper changes," she wrote. "Motherhood, especially Black motherhood, is an act of bravery and an act of hope. We are mothers not because we always make the best choices or because we can protect our children from the unknown, but because we choose hope instead of fear."

We're sending you and your new bundle of joy lots of love as you embark on this amazing journey.
