This is what we call a double dose of Black girl magic and grit! Twin sisters Tia and Tyra Smith will graduate on Saturday as co-valedictorians from Chicago’s Lindblom Math and Science Academy with matching 4.0GPAs.
They both managed to earn the perfect grade point available while taking 12 advanced placement classes.
As for what’s next, even though Tia and Tyra have only spent one full day separated, they’ve decided to go separate routes for college.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Tyra will pursue a degree in economics from Northwestern University, while Tia plans to attend Duke University to study statistics. Both earned full-ride scholarships.
“I feel like we each made the best decision for ourselves,” Tia said.
On Saturday the twin sisters will deliver their co-valedictorian speeches the same way they’ve done everything else up until now — together.
Congratulations ladies!
