Black excellence continues to shine at Whitehaven High School!

Dubbed the "Million Dollar Tigers," the Memphis, Tennessee high school hosts an annual Academic Signing Day to celebrate its graduating seniors- who usually receive at least one million dollars in college scholarships.

Among its 2018 graduating class are Jayla Woods and Meaghan Jones, who together got accepted into 373 colleges and were offered more than $19 million in scholarships. The students utilized college application resources, like the Common Black College Application, which allows students to apply to 53 Historically Black Colleges and Universities at the same time for $35.

Woods was accepted into 160 colleges and received $8.9 million in scholarships. Jones is this year's top earner with $10.7 million scholarships offers from 213 schools. Both ladies have a 4.2 grade point average and chose to attend Tennessee State University in the fall, where they will also be roommates.

"I have always wanted to attend an HBCU," said Woods. "I want to do a double major in nutrition and athletic training, and TSU will let me do that." Jones will pursue a pre-med track.

Congratulations, ladies! Your academic excellence is an inspiration to us all.
