The second season of Issa Rae's HBO comedy 'Insecure' will be premiering way sooner than we expected. Today, Rae took to social media to announce the show's early second season premiere date, which will be.... July 23! Season two includes eight new episodes that will continue to take audiences on a journey of the authentic trails, friendship, and experiences of two Black women. Check out Rae's full announcement below.
For the first season of the show, Rae snagged her very first Golden Globe nomination and made history with Tracee Ellis Ross, as their nominations marked the first time since 1985 that Black women have been nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series -Comedy or Musical. (Ross went on to become the second Black woman to ever win this category; the first was Debbie Allen in 1983).
In the words of Debbie Allen, who presented Rae with the 2017 Essence's Black Women in Hollywood Vanguard Award: “It’s incredible to watch as (Rae) continues to forge her own path while leading a new generation of leaders and doers."
Are you ready for season two? It's set to premiere Sunday, July 23 on HBO at 10:30pm ET.
