Great news for the cast and crew of "Grown-ish" (and all of us watching at home)!
After only four episodes, ABC's "Black-ish" spinoff "Grown-ish" has received an early renewal with a 20 episode season two order from Freeform. The star of the show, Yara Shahidi, was surprised with the news on Thursday night while speaking on a panel at the first Freeform Summit, where "Grown-ish" creator Kenya Barris made the announcement. See Shahidi's reaction to the news below.
When "Grown-ish" debuted on January 3 it became Freeform's biggest comedy series debut in almost six years. If you haven't tuned in already, the college-set comedy follows Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) and her freshman year experience at Cal U. While maintaining the essence of "Black-ish" with its Black history lessons and thought provoking dialogues, the series "tackles current social issues and complexities facing both students and administrators," according to Deadline.
With this early renewal, looks like "Grown-ish" is just getting started. Congratulations to the cast and crew!
