They’re all more than deserving!
Nia Long, Aunjanue Ellis, Quinta Brunson and Chanté Adams are all 2022 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood honorees, Essence reports.
ESSENCE has announced their inaugural honorees for their 2022 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards. Starting in 2008, this is the awards 15th year highlighting women who have been making their mark in Hollywood and blazing a trail in remarkable ways.
The theme for this year is The Black Cinematic Universe, highlighting the extraordinary achievements of four Black Women making strides in Hollywood - veteran actress, producer and director Nia Long (You People), Oscar nominated actress Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard), actress and comedian Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), and actress Chanté Adams (A Journal for Jordan).
“For 15 years, our ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards has heralded the strengths and accomplishments of Black women who are making an impact in Hollywood. This year - as we highlight the Black Cinematic Universe - our four honorees each exemplify the power, life and joy that is a direct reflection of our community. We are also thankful for our partners for supporting our vision as we continue to shine a light on the beauty and resilience of Black women everywhere,” said ESSENCE CEO Caroline Wanga.
The honorees will be awarded at the Oscar-week event and be featured in the March/April print issue of ESSENCE magazine. The issue will recognize 124 industry power players and creatives across the industry. The women will also be featured in a unique digital split cover. Snowfall star Damson Idris is expected to host the event.
“Honoring breakthrough moments, emerging talent and cinematic legends have always been our guide when choosing our Black Women in Hollywood honorees. This year - our 15th anniversary - we proudly continue celebrating actresses championing for authentic portrayals and diverse storytelling across film, television and streaming. Much like our theme, the Black Cinematic Universe, the power in our presence is infinite,” said ESSENCE Deputy Editor Cori Murray.
The 2022 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards will take place Thursday, March 24th in Beverly Hills. Exclusive red carpet access will be granted to viewers via livestream, beginning at 11:30am PST/2:30pm EST. The awards will air virtually on Monday, March 28th from 7-10pm ET at www.ESSENCEStudios.com.
Congratulations, to all of the nominees!
