The New ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Reboot Has Locked In Its Cast

Getting closer and closer to seeing it!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot has locked in its cast.

Last year, we reported about the new reboot, Bel-Air, inspired by a 2019 viral YouTube video by Morgan Cooper, reimagining the hit 90’s sitcom as a drama series. Both Cooper and Fresh Prince star Will Smith signed on to executive produce the new series, streaming giant Peacock winning the bid to air the new show. Now, the series has announced its cast, nine actors who will be working alongside Philadelphia native Jabari Banks, who’s starring as Will in the series.

The cast includes Adrian Holmes (Arrow) and Cassandra Freeman (The Enemy Within) as Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivan. Olly Sholotan (Run Hide Fight), Coco Jones (Facebook Watch’s Five Points), and Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) will play Carlton, Hillary, and Ashley. Jimmy Akingbola (Arrow) will play Geoffrey, the family’s butler, with Jordan L. Jones (Rel) as Jazz. And Simone Joy Jones (Netflix’s The Chair) will act as Lisa, Will’s girlfriend.

Bel-Air is currently set for a two-season reboot from Peacock, with T.J. Brady (The Chi) and Rasheed Newson (USA’s Shooter) serving as showrunners. Both Brady and Newson serve as executive producers and the original 1990s series EPs Smith, Quincy Jones, and Benny Medina. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air creators Andy and Susan Borowitz and Cooper will also write and direct with Universal Television, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, and Smith’s Westbrook Studios producing.

No word yet on when the series will air, but we can’t wait!
