Michelle Obama's "Becoming" May Become the Best-Selling Autobiography in History

Michelle Obama's

Our forever First Lady, Michelle Obama’s memoir, “Becoming,” could blaze a trail as the best-selling autobiography in history.

According to her book’s publisher, the memoir has sold 10 million copies in just four months, putting it on track to reach new heights.

“We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” executive Thomas Rabe of Bertelsmann, the parent company of Penguin Random House, said during the company’s annual conference.

This possibility hasn’t taken anyone who has been paying attention by surprise. On the day of its release, “Becoming” sold just over 725,000 copies, making it the year’s highest single day sales of any book published by Penguin Random House. In the days that followed, social media was flooded with photos of people of all races and ages posing with their book in hand.

The momentum transferred over to the sold-out “Becoming” book tour, where Obama is promoting the memoir through candid conversations that recall her words on paper and her family's experiences before, during and after the White House.

In 2017, the Obama’s made history when they signed a $60 million book deal with Penguin to publish their memoirs. President Obama’s memoir is expected to be released later this year.
