Our forever First Lady Michelle Obama is celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child with a new initiative called "Global Girls Alliance," plus an empowering video that features young girls singing Aretha Franklin's "Think."
Today on International #DayoftheGirl, the @ObamaFoundation is proud to launch the #GlobalGirlsAlliance—a program to empower adolescent girls around the world through education.

Launched under the Obama Foundation, the program "seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and to transform their families, communities, and countries," the first post under the Global Girls Alliance's Instagram page states.
The program hopes to support more than 1,500 grassroots organizations who are fighting the challenges that girls encounter in their communities. Watch the full video below and then check out Global Girls Alliance for more information on how to help create a better future for us all.
Mrs. Obama announced the initiative Thursday on NBC's "Today" show, where she said: "When you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country."
