This Black-Owned Corporation Just Secured a $334 Million Deal With the Only Five-Star Airport in North America

LaTrelle's Galley just secured a major deal with William P. Hobby Airport, AfroTech reports.

LaTrelle's Galley, who got their start as LaTrelle’s Bakery in the heart of the Hobby Airport, has been operating for three generations, staying true to their values of quality, customers, employees, and partners. After adding a Wendy's and Subway to Hobby plus more than 30 restaurants in airports throughout the U.S., the Houston-based company eventually landed a ten-year $334 million-dollar contract with Hobby, the first and only five-star airport in North America. However, this isn’t the only area they’re managing; Portland International Airport, Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and various neighborhood locations in Texas are all a part of their portfolio.

This deal strikes a full circle moment. Chief Financial Officer Kenneth James stated, “In 1985, my father’s first airport location was a 350-square-foot bakery in Hobby Airport. With today’s decision by this City Council, we will now operate over 17,000 square feet of Hobby Airport’s food and beverage locations. What an opportunity.”

LaTrelle’s will be bringing many restaurants to the airport, such as Common Bond Bistro and Bakery, The Rustic, Velvet Taco, Dish Society, Pinks Pizza, Jersey Mike’s, Wendy’s, Peet’s Coffee, and Dunkin’ Donuts. These restaurants are projected to bring $73 million in sales for the airport, $8 million in net profit for the management company, and 300 new jobs for the community.

“We are a local, family-owned and operated business. This is proof that given the access to compete on equal footing, small companies can execute large responsibilities. This is a privilege and an honor. We are humbled and grateful.”

Construction will start in April, and travelers can look forward to enjoying these restaurants within the next two years.

Congratulations, LaTrelle’s Galley!
