If you haven't noticed already, the class of 2021 is filled with Black excellence. From the several college acceptances, to the hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship offers, Black high school seniors across the nation are on well on their way to reaching new heights with higher education.
For two New York teens, they have accomplished an impressive task: getting into several Ivy League schools. Chaminade High School senior Jude Okonkwo was accepted into all eight Ivy League schools: Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Stuyvesant High School senior Nina Uziogwe was accepted into seven Ivy Leagues (she was not accepted into Brown University).
With a strong work ethic and academic background, both seniors have balanced the rigorous demand of their classroom studies and extracurricular activities. They both also plan to major in medicine; Jude dreams of one day becoming a neurosurgeon. While Jude has his sights set on attending Harvard in the fall, he and Nina still have until May 1 to make their final decision. We know whichever college Jude and Nina choose that they are going to bring an overflow of Black excellence to the classroom and beyond.
