College acceptance season is fully upon us and high school seniors everywhere are anxiously waiting for their letters in the mail. Chancie Brown, who attends Bowie High School in Maryland, received not one, not two, but three acceptance letters from prestigious military academies: The United States Coast Guard Academy, the United States Military Academy (West Point), and the Virginia Military Institute, which were Brown's top college choices. To make it even better, Brown has also been offered two full scholarships to the United States military academies. The scholarships are worth more than $600,000.

Brown has exuded a great desire to serve his country since entering high school, where he joined NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) and was later named a Distinguished Cadet. He now serves as a PO2 (Petty Officer, 2nd class). Nurturing his passion for service and leadership outside of school, Brown became a member of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Annapolis Division, where he was able to use the experience to rise in rank to a senior leadership position.

If that's not impressive enough, Brown was also a drum major in the marching band, class president of his school's Student Government Association for two years, and a member of a number of clubs and organizations. Brown will be taking his academic excellence, military and leadership training to the United States Coast Guard Academy, as he has accepted the appointment into their scholar program.

Congratulations, Chancie! We salute you for your incredible achievement.
