Debra Lee has been named to AT&T’s board of directors.
“Debra’s outstanding leadership, deep expertise and strong track record in the entertainment and media industry will be terrific additions to our board of directors,” said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and CEO. “Her unique perspective as a media industry leader and operations executive, and her lifetime commitment to community service give her valuable insights I look forward to having on our board.”
Lee worked at BET Networks for over 30 years, beginning her career as in-house counsel in 1986 and becoming chairwoman and CEO in 2006 until her retirement in 2018.
Under her leadership the network launched the BET Awards, “Black Girls Rock!” and “The New Edition Story."
In addition to AT&T's board, Lee also serves on the board of directors for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Marriott.
