Colin Kaepernick Donates Thousands of Impossible Plant-Based Patties To L.A. Regional Food Bank

This guy just doesn’t quit!

Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick has donated 4,500 Impossible plant-based patties to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Black Enterprise reports.

Kaepernicks’ Know Your Rights Camp partnered with ABC7 Los Angeles to help families in L.A. communities combat hunger and food insecurity. The former NFL player turned activist sent over 100 cases of Impossible patties to the food bank, after recently announcing a partnership with the alternative meat company, vowing to feed 1 million people this year. The donations are specifically for families in low-income communities and will be distributed to three other food banks within the Southern California region.

Patricia Robinson, Community Outreach director at the Know Your Rights Camp, spoke about the donation saying, “Since our announcement of teaming up with Impossible Foods earlier this month, we continue to work toward our goal of helping to feed 1 million people together. We are excited for this most recent collaboration with ABC7/KABC-TV Los Angeles. Know Your Rights Camp is happy to help provide relief and continue the fights against food insecurity to our most vulnerable communities in Southern California.”

“We have a history of supporting the local food banks, this is part of our mission in the communities we serve. This year, the need is significantly greater; we are seeing more people experiencing food insecurity due to the pandemic. That is why we are grateful to Colin Kaepernick and the Know Your Rights Camp, who share the same goal to reduce food insecurities and stepped up with a donation of carefully selected food that is a healthy alternative for communities who simply do not have access,” said Cheryl Fair, president and general manager of KABC-TV Los Angeles.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, distribution at the Southern California food banks has significantly increased by more than 70%, serving nearly 200,000 people weekly. Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp seeks to empower communities of color through various social good efforts including education, mobilization, and leadership training. In addition to his work on the ground, the former quarterback is also looking to change the media landscape, recently inking a first-look deal with Disney to develop scripted and unscripted stories that tackle issues of race, social justice, and equity.

Thank you for all the work you’re doing Kaep!
