On Friday morning, the legendary Cicely Tyson was honored by Turner Classic Movies with a hand and footprint ceremony outside of Hollywood's landmark TCL Chinese Theatre.
The long overdue honor recognizes the 93-year-old actress and activist's impact on the entertainment industry. Whether it was on the stage or on the screen, Tyson "set a standard of excellence for actresses of all backgrounds," said Ben Mankiewicz, TCM Primetime Host.
Over the course of her career, which spans more than six decades, Tyson has received countless awards, including a Kennedy Center Honor, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and several honorary degrees. Even still, she was surprised to receive her very own hand and footprint ceremony.

"At first it kind of shook me because the whole idea of me putting my handprint and footprint in a substance that would memorialize me is kind of awesome you know?" Tyson told NBC News. "It's an extraordinary honor and something that won't ever go away."
Congratulations, Ms. Tyson! Your incredible impact on the entertainment industry is timeless.
