Another day, another record broken by Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther!"
This time it's in the South African box office, as "Black Panther" is now the first movie ever to cross the R100-million mark in its local box office. The superhero blockbuster also holds the title as top-grossing film of all time in South Africa, as well as the highest grossing film of all time in East and West Africa.
Last month, the film crossed the billion dollar mark in the worldwide box office, and since has beaten "Titanic" to become the the third highest-grossing US theatrical release of all time.
After attending the South African premiere of "Black Panther" back in February, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o said it's "a gift to be back in the motherland to bring #BlackPanther here for the South African Premiere. The joy, love and excitement here and worldwide is spellbinding. Something really special is happening!"
And it's still happening! Wakanda today, Wakanda tomorrow, Wakanda forever.
