"Black Panther" doesn't hit theaters until February 16, but it has already added its name to the record books. The upcoming film now holds Fandango's record for most pre-sale tickets sold for a Marvel movie. "Captain America: Civil War", which went on to score a $179 million opening weekend when it was released in May of 2016, previously held the record.
Fandango's managing editor Erik Davis took to social media to share what "Black Panther" achieved in its first 24 hours of pre-sales.
Big news this morning - #BlackPanther sold more advance tickets on @Fandango in its first 24 hours than any other MCU movie, besting previous record holder Captain America: Civil War. Long live the King! pic.twitter.com/JL1c28AgWm

"Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now," said Davis in a statement. "It's one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday."
If these ticket pre-sales are any indication of how well "Black Panther" is going do in the box office, this is the first of many records the Marvel film will break.
