Beyoncé Celebrates 'Lemonade' Anniversary With New Scholarship Program For Young Women

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is calling for the ladies to get into formation once more. This time for education. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of her landmark visual album, "Lemonade", the multi Grammy award-winning artist announced a new scholarship called "Formation Scholars". According to her website, the scholarship seeks to "support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident."

Beyoncé chose four schools to partner with: two historically Black colleges and universities, Howard and Spelman, and two art schools, Berklee School of Music and Parsons School of Design. A total of four scholarships will be awarded to young women pursuing degrees in music, literature, the creative arts or African American studies. One scholarship per school will be provided for the 2017-2018 academic school year. The selected schools will also provide further details on how eligible students can apply.

Beyoncé, thank you for using your platform to pay it forward and inspire young women, who look like you, to turn life's lemons into lemonade.
