Years After Being Diagnosed With Autism, Toni Braxton's Son Graduates High School And Is Attending Howard University

H.U. You KNOW!

Toni Braxton’s son Diezel graduated from high school and announced plans to attend Howard University, Atlanta Black Star reports. Diezel Braxton-Lewis is the youngest son of Toni and her ex-husband, artist Keri Lewis. He graduated from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles, a private school that merges in-person, virtual, and hybrid learning.

Diezel was diagnosed with autism at 3-years old. In the past, Braxton has shared the hard work the family was doing to help her son navigate living on the spectrum. In a 2016 interview, she said that since they were able to begin working with doctors at an early age, her son was no longer experiencing severe symptoms of autism.

“My youngest son, as everyone knows, my son Diezel suffers from — or I should say suffered from autism. I am one of the lucky parents,” theGrio reported. “Early diagnosis changes everything. I will tell you this. I will shout it from the rooftops.”

Braxton uploaded a picture of herself, Diezel, and older brother Denim after graduation, celebrating his accomplishments.

“Congratulations, @diezel.braxton! Mom is so proud of you. Howard University here he comes!” she said.

The Braxton family are natives of the DMV region, so the younger son’s return to the area to attend the illustrious HBCU was met with well wishes.

Keri also posted about his son’s accomplishment, writing, “Congratulations, young King!! Words can not describe how proud of you I am @diezel.braxton!! Howard University next!!”

The 18-year-old had fewer words to share than his parents but was equally excited, simply writing,” Deuces High school.”

So many of the superstar’s fans have watched her sons grow up over the years and, upon learning that he had graduated, flooded her page with congratulatory expressions while sharing lots of HBCU pride.

We wish you all the best on your next journey, Diezel! Congratulations!
