Inspired by the tech-savvy princess of Wakanda, the mother and daughter duo behind the YouTube channel My Froggy Stuff made their own Princess Shuri doll with a full tech lab. They created it from a Princess Tiana doll, who made her big screen debut in 2009 as the first African American Disney princess.
In the description box under the DIY (Do It Yourself) video it said: "By request: WAKANDA FOREVER!!! Today on My Froggy Stuff check out the One and Only Custom Disney Princess Black Panther Shuri Doll!! This is a One of a Kind Custom Doll made from a Princess Tiana Doll! Watch as we custom make Shuri’s Fabulous outfit, Face paint, and Shuri’s Full Wakanda Tech Lab PERFECT for any S.T.E.M. Loving techie!!"
The video was posted a day before the Walt Disney Company (owner of Marvel Studios) announced its $1 million dollar to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America's STEM programs- which is being called a nod to the tech genius princess Shuri (played by Letitia Wright).
Since the film hit theaters last month, it has inspired and empowered people all over the world, especially children who are basking in all the glory of seeing a superhero, warriors, and a tech-savvy princess who looks like them on the big screen. Let's just hope that the mother-duo make more dolls so young girls everywhere, especially girls of color, can add a STEM heroine to their doll collection.
As "Black Panther nears the $1 billion mark, it's clear that its impact is endless and so is Black excellence.
