Steve Harvey Hosting Virtual Mentoring Sessions For Young Men Dealing With The Stress of COVID-19

This is beautiful!

Comedian Steve Harvey is hosting weekly virtual mentoring sessions for young men as a way to promote wellness during the global pandemic, Black Enterprise reports.

The Steve Harvey Mentoring Program (SHMP) is a program created by Harvey in 2009 that provides educational enrichment, mentoring, life transformation skills and global service initiatives to teens who come from under resourced communities.

Run by The Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, SHMP provides annual camps for fatherless teens as well as regional programming to help foster personal responsibility, aspirational goals and “manhood,” in male youth across the country. Now, Harvey has begun “Mentoring Mondays,” a virtual one on one mentoring session with members of SHMP to help support young men as they navigate this pandemic and deal with maintaining their wellness.

“I know we’re all living in some unusual times during this coronavirus pandemic. To all of the frontline workers, I say thank you for all you’re doing. Y’all know how passionate I am about mentoring young men - especially those who are growing up without a father or male role model in their life. Usually I see some of the boys at my Steve Harvey Mentoring Program for Young Men. This is all part of a new thing I've been inspired to do - offering some guidance to these boys while they’re sheltering at home,” Harvey said.

The digital broadcast aired on Facebook’s STEVE on Watch, raking in more than 3.5 million views. Harvey has also been joined by guests, including former NFL superstar Ray Lewis, who shared advice and encouragement with the young men. Along with his “Mentoring Mondays,” Harvey has also been partnering with various organizations around Atlanta to combat food insecurity and assist with coronavirus relief efforts.

Thank you for all you’re doing Uncle Steve! We appreciate you!
