Serena Williams Surprises Girls From 'Black Girls Code' With Private 'Black Panther' Screening

On Thursday, a group of girls from "Black Girls Code" attended a private screening of Marvel's "Black Panther" at the AMC Van Ness 14 theater in San Francisco. Little did they know, tennis great Serena Williams would make a surprise visit and watch the film with them.

"I'm glad you guys could make it out. Obviously this is a huge moment for us, for Black people," Williams told the girls. "We've never had a superhero movie, so we're so excited. I feel like I've waited my whole life for this."

The surprise was arranged by Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian, who had extra tickets for a screening and teamed up with "Black Girls Code," a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing African American women presence in tech, to pull off the special event. Williams and Ohanian rented out the movie theater for the private screening.
