Mariah Carey, Pharrell Williams & The Isley Brothers Will Be Inducted Into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

It’s a great day for music!

Mariah Carey, Pharrell Williams’ group The Neptunes, and The Isley Brothers were just announced as inductees for the 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame, CBS News reports.

Other inductees include British duo, the Eurythmics, songwriter and producer Rick Nowels, musician Steve Miller and former Motown producer William “Mickey” Stevenson.

The inductees this year have an array of talent. Carey is at the top of the inductee class with 19 number one hits, the most of any solo artist. She was praised during the announcment for her ethereal voice and for co-writing most of her hits, including the holiday anthem, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

The legendary Isley Brothers came on the scene in 1959 and they haven’t slowed down since. They are known for hits including “It’s Your Thing,” “Who’s That Lady,” and “Shout” which has had major crossover and commercial appeal.

The mega producer group The Neptunes, made up of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, have co-wrote for some of the biggest artists in the game. Their roster includes songs for artists like Nelly, Brittney Spears and Jay Z, Madonna and the list goes on and on.

Stevenson is a veteran in this game, a former Motown songwriter, his hits include Martha and the Vandellas’ “Dancing in the Street,” Marvin Gaye’s “It Takes Two,” and Mitch Ryder’s “Devil with the Blue Dress On.”

Each of these artists have had massive success and are more than deserving of such a prestigious honor. Carey took to social media to share her excitement about the recognition, saying, “I can’t believe it … this is truly one of the greatest honors of my career. I’m so proud and humbled to be in the company of such legendary songwriters.”

The 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled to take place June 11th in New York City.

Congratulations to all the inductees!
