He’s the first French filmmaker to sign a deal with Netflix!
Lupin’s Omar Sy recently inked a multi-year film deal with Netflix, HypeBeast reports.
French actor Omar Sy, who stars in Netflix’s hit show Lupin, just signed a multi-year feature film deal with Netflix under his Korokoro production company. The deal is the first Netflix has ever done with a French filmmaker, and Sy will play both lead actor and executive producer for the upcoming films, the contract including several original projects for the streaming giant.
“I have experienced Netflix’s collaboration with artists and their passion to bring unique and diverse stories to homes all over the world…[I am] happy to have the opportunity to extend the relationship and look forward to this next step of our journey together,” Sy said.
Sy served as a creative producer for some of the Lupin episodes, which he also stars in as Assane Diop. This past summer, Netflix confirmed season 3 of the series, throwing out clues about the new season, including an expansion of characters.
“When you read the books, Lupin has a lot of accomplices. But [in the show] he had the one. I think it’s going to be more interesting, maybe one day having a big cast with a lot of people,” Sy told reporters this summer.
No word yet on when new Netflix projects from Sy will be released, but the next season of Lupin is expected to arrive in late 2022.
Congratulations Omar!
