A day before his 21st birthday, Jaden Smith started his week with the launch of a pop up food truck to provide homeless people in LA with free vegan food.
Smith announced the “I Love You Restaurant” on Instagram sharing that “The @ILoveYouRestaurant is movement that is all about giving people what they deserve, healthy, vegan food for free. Today we launched our first one day food truck pop-up in downtown LA. Keep a look out because this is the first of many.”
Brown paper bags with “I Love You” stickers were distributed to what some would consider Los Angeles' forgotten or overlooked homeless community on Skid Row. USA Today recently reported a 12% spike in the LA homeless population, bringing the total to close to 60,000 people.
The launch of Smith’s latest venture is one of many initiatives that he’s launched to give back to others in a healthy way while making a positive impact on the environment.
In 2018 he launch an environmentally conscious spring water line called "Just Water” and earlier this year he partnered with First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church to provide clean water to Flint Michigan residents through a mobile filtration system called “The Water Box.”
With each act of service Jaden continues to prove that there’s more to him than blonde hair or hit songs. He cares about the environment and the people in a way that moves him to act beyond himself.
For his birthday, Smith's mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, cosigned her son's amazing spirit in a heartfelt message that she posted to Instagram.
Happy birthday, Jaden. You are truly “an icon living.”
