It's almost time! Actor Will Smith will celebrate his 50th birthday today by bungee jumping from a helicopter near the Grand Canyon. Why the Grand Canyon? As a kid, Smith remembers visiting the Grand Canyon with his family and being too afraid to walk close to the edge.
"If you're scared, you're not going to take the chances that you need to take to realize your dreams," explained Smith in a video on his YouTube channel. "And that was the thing for me, I don't mind being scared, but I'm still going to do it."
Smith is not only conquering one of his fears, but he also teamed up with Omaze, YouTube and Global Citizen to raise funds for education through an online lottery that offered participants a chance to watch him bungee jump in person. All donations will be given to Education Cannot Wait, "a global fund dedicated to education in emergencies and protracted crises."
Smith is set to make the jump at 6 pm EST. You can watch live via his YouTube channel.
Happy Birthday again, Will! Cheers to taking more big leaps!
