The Fresh Prince Reboot, 'Bel-Air', On Peacock Debuts New Trailer

The trailer is finally here!

The inaugural trailer of “Bel-Air,” the dramatic reimagining of the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has been released. Will Smith narrates the video and Jabari Banks stars in the role of the iconic titular character, according to Deadline.

We recently reported that they announced the cast for the reboot of the hit 90’s sitcom this past September. The darker reimagined show is based on the viral YouTube video from creator director, co-writer, and executive producer Morgan Cooper. “Bel-Air” will delve into the emotions and conflicts that weren’t addressed in the original show.

“Because Bel-Air is a drama, we’re able to really peel back the layers of these characters and themes in a way that you simply couldn’t do 30 years ago in the half-hour sitcom format,” Cooper said. “We’re able to go have tough conversations that challenge perspectives. At its core, Bel-Air is a celebration of the black experience through the perspective of a family.”

Bel-Air is currently set for a two-season reboot from Peacock, with T.J. Brady (The Chi) and Rasheed Newson (USA’s Shooter) serving as showrunners. Both Brady and Newson serve as executive producers and the original 1990s series EPs Smith, Quincy Jones, and Benny Medina. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air creators Andy and Susan Borowitz and Cooper will also write and direct with Universal Television, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, and Smith’s Westbrook Studios producing.

We look forward to watching!
