Laughter is always the best medicine!

Media Mogul Byron Allen has partnered with NBC and comedy production company Funny or Die to air a comedy special featuring Eddie Murphy, Kevin Hart and Chris Rock in support of Feeding America, The Grio reports.

Since 1979, the org has been combating domestic issues of hunger, feeding more than 40 million, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors. Through their network of food banks across the country and support from various partners, the organization continues to do the necessary work of feeding America’s hungry. With the spike in job loss and food shortages as a result of the global pandemic, they are looking to engage even more support in the fight against food insecurity.

Allen’s live streamed comedy event will air on NBC, helping to raise money in support of these efforts. The line up features some of comedy’s biggest stars including Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Rock,  Eddie Murphy, JB Smoove, Kenan Thompson, Kevin Hart, Marlon Wayans, Mike Epps, Sheryl Underwood, Taraji P. Henson, Tiffany Haddish, Tommy Davidson, Wayne Brady and Whoopi Goldberg.

“In partnership with Feeding America, my comedian friends and all of us at Allen Media Group are pleased to announce this global live-streaming comedy event. Laughter is often the best medicine, and we are extremely motivated to bring attention to issues of food insecurity, and to assist in providing meals to families across the country who are financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Allen said.

Doug Vaughan, NBC Entertainment’s executive vice president of special programs, echoed those sentiments, saying, “There’s nothing more important right now than doing everything we can to make sure everyone affected by this pandemic is able to feed themselves and their families. We’re honored to be partnering with Feeding America and the amazing work they’re doing to make sure there is food on everyone’s table.”
