Just in time for Black History month, the only Cinderella we recognize is finally coming to the Disney+ streaming service. Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella classic, which first aired on ABC in November 1997 and starred the iconic singing duo Brandy and Whitney Houston as Cinderella and fairy godmother, is the Black girl magic we need this year.
At the time of its release, it averaged 60 million viewers when there was no on-demand, streaming, or social media to alert the masses. Brandy and Houston, who was also a producer, were joined by Whoopi Goldberg as queen, Filipino-American actor Paolo Montalban as Prince Charming, and Natalie Deselle Reid as one of the stepsisters. It was a groundbreaking classing that struck a lasting chord with the millennial generation. 
Brandy went on The View to announce that the long awaited rerelease, which is slated to premiere at midnight Friday, Feb. 12th.

The film directed by Robert Iscove, featured several unforgettable original tunes from the acclaimed songwriting duo, including "Impossible," "Ten Minutes Ago," and "A Lovely Night." The music and the casting were widely praised, gaining Cinderella seven Emmy nominations in 1998 and took home the outstanding art direction for a variety or music program prize.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella was executive produced by Houston, Debra Martin Chase, Craig Zadan, and Neil Meron. Chris Montan produced with Robyn Crawford as associate producer.
