Edward Enninful Becomes British Vogue's First Black And First Male Editor-In-Chief

In the 101-year history of British Vogue Magazine, there has never been a Black or male Editor-in-Chief. Until now. Today, it was announced that W Magazine's creative and fashion director Edward Enninful was named as the magazine's new Editor-in-Chief, making him British Vogue's first ever Black and male Editor-in-Chief. "I grew up reading British Vogue - I am so honoured and humbled to be taking up the mantle of editor," said Enninful.

Since entering the world of fashion at age 16, Enninful has blazed his own trail as a model, the youngest Fashion Director of i-D magazine, and one of the most influential stylists in the fashion industry. Enninful, who moved from Ghana to London as a child, has worked with some of the world's biggest publications and has continuously used his platform to advocate for diversity and inclusion in fashion. As a matter of fact, Enninful has helped create some of the most pioneering editorials, including the 2008 "all-Black" issue of Italian Vogue, which highlighted and celebrated Black models. For his ongoing efforts to diversify the fashion industry, last June, Enninful was honored with an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Mr. Enninful, we can't wait to see what you’ll bring to British Vogue Magazine as its new Editor. Congratulations!

Enninful is set to assume his new position August 1.
