Brittney Johnson is set to make history as Broadway’s first Black Glinda in “Wicked,” Asbury Park Press reports.

The play is Broadway’s fifth-longest running production in history, first premiering 18 years ago in 2003.. Johnson received a slew of praise in the media, taking to Twitter to share her excitement about the historic role.

“If this is a dream, don’t wake me. I cannot WAIT to be your Glinda. I’m honored, grateful, and speechless. I simply couldn’t be happier,” she wrote.

The cast includes Johnson as Glinda the good witch, alongside Lindsay Pearce as Elphaba, Alexandra Billings as Madame Morrible, Michael McCormick as The Wizard, Sam Gravitte as Fiyero, Mili Diaz as Nessarose, Michael X. Martin as Doctor Dillamond, and Jordan Barrow as Boq, who recently also made history as the first Black actor to assume his role.
