#WCW: The Black Women Who Made History This Election Season

Black girl magic was in full effect on Tuesday's election night. In addition to over 100 women being elected to the United States House of Representatives for the first time ever, here are the trailblazing Black women who made history during the 2018 midterm elections.

1. Jahana Hayes became the first Black woman and the first Black democrat to be elected to Congress from Connecticut.

2. Minnesota's Ilhan Omar became the first Somali-American to win a seat in Congress.

3. Letitia James became the first African American to be elected as the Attorney General of New York.

4. Juliana Stratton became the first Black Lieutenant Governor of Illinois.

6. Veronica Smith-Creer became the first woman and first African American to be elected as mayor of El Dorado, Arkansas.

7. Lauren Underwood became first woman and first African American to be elected to represent Illinois' 14th Congressional District.
